DuraSew is a new direction for EDA Outdoors, a product and brand development company designing for the leisure, defence and humanitarian sectors.

DuraSew is the response to a unique set of supply chain challenges posed by the development of the FlexiStove® a pop-open and fold-flat outdoor cook system. Made from a specially developed high performance flexible foil laminate the stove is sewn together to create a durable heat and flame tolerant* multi-use product.

The manufacturing development phase started the search for an assembly partner. This process did not yield many results and concluded with the closure, at short notice, of the one company that was thought suitable for stove production.

Create options… With the help of a small number of highly skilled people at real risk of never threading a needle again, EDA Outdoors is developing the DuraSew facilities needed to manufacture the FlexiStove® line of products.

It’s important that knowledge, skills and employment opportunities built up over decades are not lost to industry and local communities. So in that context instead of simply bringing manufacturing in-house, EDA Outdoors is developing DuraSew as a full service independent design and contract sewing provider to the wider creative community. It’s exciting times!
